Gardening Club

Hello I am Oliver and I am Ethan from Yr. 6,

We have been involved in Gardening Club since we were in Year 3. We are going to tell you about our school’s gardening club. We have really enjoyed being in it. You can join this club when you’re in year 2 or above. The last few years there have been so many children wanting to join that we changed it to two days a week, Monday and Thursday.

We are really lucky because we get a number of parent and grandparents who come in to help. We also get a number of former pupils who call in to help. We get lots of kind donations and grants. Notcutts Garden Centre in Woodford have given us lots of plants and gardening materials. Last year the school got a £1,000 grant from Aviva, we spent the money on a new poly-tunnel. We have also bought fruit trees such as: apple, pear, and cherry and lots of other plants! We will now list a few things we do in the club:

  • We plant vegetables
  • We plant different flowers
  • And we plant hedges
  • Also we plant trees
  • We plant and take care of all the tubs and planters you see around the school
  • We litter-pick and keep our school grounds tidy
  • This year we planted about a thousand spring flowering bulbs around the field
  • We also created a wildlife strip all around the field and sowed wild flower seeds all around

Garden Club starts up in Spring and runs through to Autumn. It’s really fun at this club and we would recommend it to any students. Anyone who is interested should speak to Mr Stamper for further details.

Thanks from,

Oliver and Ethan
