Mrs Victoria Walker - Headteacher

I have worked in schools for 25 years, starting my journey in Liverpool over a 4 year Bachelor of Education with Honours Degree. I spent the next 20 years working in 6 different schools across Tameside in many different roles. I have led most subject areas across school and progressed from class teacher to working in management roles. These have included phase leader, deputy head teacher, associate head teacher and headteacher. Each new school and experience has enriched my life and I have always enjoyed the variety of challenges each setting brings.

I took up my second headship at Ludworth, in January 2015 and have loved every minute getting to know this lovely community. I look forward to many exciting and stimulating years continuing to make Ludworth as successful school as possible !

Miss Laura Vose - Deputy Headteacher/Teacher Year 3/4

My name is Laura Vose and I am the Deputy Headteacher at Ludworth Primary School. As well as teaching Year 3 and 4 I look after the English curriculum. I also work with the staff to ensure Ludworth offers the best education for all the pupils and make it an incredibly exciting place to be. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my little boy Jude and being outdoors- we love camping!

Mrs Katherine Bramhall - Teacher Reception

I have worked at Ludworth since June 2003 after completing a PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University.  I was very lucky to have been sent to Ludworth for my first teaching practice in 2002 and at once was taken by the friendly atmosphere created by both staff and pupils and the fact that anything can happen at Ludworth!  I have taught in year 3/4 and since returning from maternity leave last year I now teach year 1 where I job share. Outside school I teach dance and performing in musicals as well as looking after my little boy James and my husband Mike.  We enjoy going on holiday and spending time together as a family as well as sharing our love of music and the arts.

Mrs Holly Gregg - Teacher Reception

I feel very fortunate to be spending my week teaching such enthusiastic, energetic and eager young people and I am thankful that I love my role as Reception class teacher.

Sharing the awe and wonder of discovering something new and capturing children’s early learning encounters is a privilege.  My aim is to instil a love for learning early on and help our youngest children develop to become confident, happy and independent learners.

With a first class (BA) honours degree in Early Education I graduated from Edge Hill University.  My favourite moments are those that are normally not planned; through our creative and child-led EYFS curriculum our children, in part, lead their own learning amidst the playdough, gloop, glitter and mud kitchen both within the indoor and outdoor learning provision.

I love being outdoors and you will find me on a Thursday helping out with the Gardening club. Keen to develop our School’s Fairtrade awareness I am hoping, with our Ambassadors, to work towards achieving a Fair Trade Award so watch this space ...

Outside of school, I can be found on the side-line of a rugby pitch supporting the local team, Marple Rugby Club. When time permits, I love walking with my Border Collie, Marmite, and being a member of the Wilmslow Wild Dogs Flyball team where I have competed at Crufts!

Mrs Rebecca Naughton - Teacher Reception

I have been teaching at Ludworth since 2005, beginning the job straight after my PGCE. I have been lucky enough to teach in all Key Stages and love being part of the supportive staff here. I am currently one half of a job share in reception, sharing with Mrs Bramhall. I love being there at the very start of the children's education and am amazed every year at the progress they make from their starting points. I studied French and Spanish at university and am keen to share my enthusiasm for languages with the children at Ludworth.  I have 2 little girls who keep me very busy when I'm not at school.

Mrs Jennifer Cartwright - Teacher Year 1

I have been a teacher at Ludworth since 2003 and am privileged to have taught in every year group during this time. I  am currently working in Year 1 and am thoroughly enjoying the sparkle and buzz that comes with working with children at the beginning of their learning journey.

Mrs Susan Everett - Teacher Year 1

I have worked in primary education for many years in Shropshire and Cheshire. I have worked throughout KS1 at Ludworth for many years and  am thoroughly enjoying being part of the Year 1 team this year.

It is lovely to watch the children becoming more confident and independent during these important years.

When I have spare time I enjoy walking in the Peaks, playing tennis and occasionally, drawing and painting.

Miss Candice Kossowska - Teacher Year 1

I am a Year 1 Class Teacher at Ludworth. I completed my final placement as a trainee teacher at this school. I graduated from Edge Hill University with a first class BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education. My specialist subject at university was Modern Foreign Languages, and as part of my training I taught English as a foreign language abroad. During my final year at university I studied an additional specialism into alternative educational settings, for which I worked voluntarily within the learning team at Manchester Museum. I was delighted to complete my training as a teacher at Ludworth, and to be appointed Year 1 Class Teacher, in such a well-regarded and supportive school. I love teaching Year 1, as I am able to encourage the children to become more independent and it is very rewarding to help the children develop as readers. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family.

Mrs Rachel Mackinnon - Teacher Year 1

Having trained at Manchester Metropolitan University, I completed my final teaching placement at Ludworth and was lucky enough to get a teaching post in the Reception class. Ten years later, I now teach in Yr 1  and love being part of the Ludworth team. Outside of school I try to keep busy, visiting friends and socialising. I spend a lot of time listening to music, playing the piano and attending music concerts. I am an avid reader and member of a book club and enjoy watching films. I love to be in the outdoors and spend a lot of weekends (in fine weather) sleeping under canvas, hiking and rock climbing. I am passionate about travelling and am very lucky to have been to some very interesting places during the summer holidays, including China, Guatemala, Belize, Mongolia and visiting my brother in New Zealand. I am currently trying to learn Spanish with Mrs Naughton and hope to be fluent soon!

Mrs Denise Storey - Teacher Year 2

I have been working at Ludworth since 1999 and have taught in year two for many, many years.  The staff, children and parents at Ludworth make it a pleasure to come to work! I have two grown-up children and a husband who also enjoys his teaching time at Ludworth. In my spare time I enjoy DIY, attending classical music concerts and the challenge of teaching myself to speak Spanish!

Miss Emily Pond - Teacher Year 2

I have been working at Ludworth since 2005 and currently teach in Year 2.  I really enjoy being involved in the early stages of the children’s education at Ludworth. I love the team spirit and atmosphere at Ludworth and enjoy working with people with varying talents and interests. In my spare time I love spending the weekends in Scotland where we have a small cottage, walking and spending time on the beach. I love to travel and most recently completed the Inca Trail in Peru.

Mrs Vanessa Simmonds - Teacher Year 3/4

I have been working at Ludworth for over 10 years and have taught children from Year 6 right through to Reception. I am currently working alongside the Year 3/4 team for the second half of the week. During my career I have taught in many schools in different parts of the country and worked in North Carolina for a year. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching cookery programmes to find new recipes to try and spending time out and about with my husband and little boy, Jamie.

Miss Elisha Thomas - Teacher Year 3/4

My name is Miss Thomas and I currently teach Year 3 and 4 at Ludworth. I only started here in September but have loved every minute and it really does feel like 'home' to me. During the last 8 years I have been teaching children whose  mums and dads work for the British Army in Germany. I loved living in Germany and especially enjoyed the ice-cream and snow there - but not at the same time! Before that, I spent 4 years teaching in Shropshire (where I am originally from). Here at Ludworth I have curriculum responsibility for "PSHE and Well being". This role is new to me, but very exciting because it's about ensuring every person in our school feels respected, appreciated and can express their beliefs, opinions and thoughts without judgement or prejudice.  My favourite subject is Art and I am always trying out new crafts at home - I share my love of creativity with the Art Club that I run.

Mrs Natalie Welsh - Teacher Year 3/4

I have been teaching at Ludworth since 2006 in a variety of roles. During my time here, I have taught children from Reception through to Year 4. I have also been actively involved in the PTA as a parent, as both of my children spent their primary years here which they thoroughly enjoyed! I have previously taught in Marple, Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme. I enjoy teaching children at Ludworth and being able to help them grow into confident, caring young people.

Outside school my family life keeps me very busy but in my spare time I enjoy walks with my family, Yoga and keeping fit in the gym. I am interested in History and have been awarded a National Trust badge for 10 years voluntary service at Lyme Park.

Mrs Gaynor Davies - Teacher Year 5/6

I currently teach in year 5/6.  I have worked at Ludworth for a very long time and currently hold the position of longest serving member of staff!  During my time at Ludworth I have really enjoyed working as part of a team and helping all children to reach their potential.  In my spare time I enjoy watching football and walking my border collie!

Mrs Katherine Donoghue - Teacher Year 5/6

I have been working at Ludworth since 2004 and currently work in Year 5/6. My specialist subject are Music and P.E . I particularly enjoy teaching Maths and believe in encouraging the children to enjoy learning. The trip to Carlton Lodge is the highlight of my year when I can spend time with the children encouraging them to face their fear and getting them very muddy!

Mrs Nicola Hankey - Teacher Year 5/6 & SENCO

I have worked in primary education for the last twenty five years in a range of teaching roles including Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher.  I also  thoroughly enjoyed my role as a Primary Strategy Consultant for Oldham Local Authority  which involved delivering English, Maths and Social/Emotional  training to teachers.

The arrival of my own children (currently in Year 4 and Year 6) augmented my passion for inspiring young minds and I feel privileged to be teaching Year 5 as part of the Ludworth Team. My appointment as SENDCo in 2014 also motivated me to further my own educational studies and I recently successfully achieved the SEN National Award at Masters level at MMU.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, swimming and (like most parents) ferrying my children between various clubs and their many social events!

Mr Thomas Jackson - Teacher Year 5/6

This is my second year at Ludworth teaching Year 5/6, I joined the Ludworth Team after I was lucky enough to complete my first placement at the school whilst gaining my PGCE at Edgehill University. I have a degree in Sport and Community Development from Sheffield Hallam University which has been very beneficial to my role as P.E and Sport Coordinator at Ludworth. I have a passion for sport and have very much enjoyed watching the children enjoy all the different sporting opportunities which Ludworth offers. Outside of school I enjoy playing football, going to the gym and snowboarding. I also like to travel as much as I possibly can.
