Yr. 5/6 have started a four week Dance Workshop with the Premier Education Group. They are working to create a series of dances based on Ancient Greece, as part of their topic of Ancient Civilisations. In groups, the children have been choreographing different parts of the performance, which they are then teaching to the rest of the class to produce a whole class dance. We are hoping to showcase the work to the whole school once completed.
Year 5 enjoyed an amazing Photography Workshop with Aurelie Kennedy. She showed examples of her work and talked about techniques before leading a practical activity where the children worked in groups to create photos with the themes ‘Light’ ‘Action’ and ‘Composition.’ The children were extremely motivated and used various editing techniques to produce fantastic photographs. The children were extremely motivated and their enthusiasm inspired the Year 6 children to explore photography styles too!
We were also motivated by a presentation from Rod Holt, a local artist who talked about the inspiration for his work and the symbolism within it. Rod’s passion for his work was apparent to us all! He showed us some of his original artwork and described his extremely detailed technique using biro. The children then enjoyed experimenting with biro to produce an image of something that told a ‘story’ about a part of their lives.
