Meet our Support Staff
The portraits of staff were drawn by children in Year 5.
Ms Denise Sheldon - Teaching Assistant
I have been a Teaching Assistant at Ludworth for approximately six years both on a one to one basis and classroom based. Previously I was employed by Granada Television for twenty-seven years working in Accounts, World in Action, Sport and Regional Affairs.
I work with Year 6 in the mornings and most afternoons in Lower KS2. I run Homework Club for Years 5/6. This has grown from six rather reluctant members to over 50 very enthusiastic children today. I love working with the older children; their sense of humour, stories and commitment to being their very best is so inspiring.
Away from Ludworth I have a partner who still works in TV and two children, both of whom are ex-Ludworth pupils. I enjoy documentaries, current affairs, films and enthralling dramas and I am a member of a semi-successful quiz team.
Mrs Ann Dean - Teaching Assistant
I started working at Ludworth Primary School in September 2016.
I have a wonderful job as a Teaching Assistant working with the youngest members of the school in Reception.
I live locally in Marple with my husband and two children.
Mrs Carol Gillingham - Teaching Assistant
I work with the Reception children at Ludworth Primary School and look after children during lunchtimes. I also enjoy leading the very popular gardening club with Mr Templar.
Mrs Alex Knibb - Teaching Assistant
I started helping out at Ludworth in 1998 when my son started in reception, then in 2000 my daughter started and I became a mid day assistant. I loved being part of Ludworth as I came to this school and my mum and gran did too, so we had alot of history. I then became a supply T.A. helping children in different years and working on a one to one basis with children. A few years later I had the chance to become a T.A. in the KS1 department, where I am very happy. I have a family and a dog who all need looking after and I also look after my sisters little boy who is adorable.
I work in Year 3 and 4. I have previously worked in Years 2-6 assisting children with a range of activities from cooking to phonics.
Following a career as a secondary school English teacher, I came to Ludworth as SEN support staff and immediately loved working here. I already knew the school well as my two children were lucky enough to attend Ludworth and, during that time, I had been the PTA secretary and a member of The Leading Parent Partnership Team.
I now work with a child in year 5 as well as teaching advanced reading skills to a group of year 6s. The children at Ludworth are fantastic and a pleasure to work with.
In my free time I enjoy visiting my family home in Southern Italy and travelling to new and interesting places with my two boys. I also love training in fitness and Martial Arts.
I am a Special Needs Teaching Assistant working with the junior children at Ludworth. I joined Ludworth in 2002 having moved to Marple from the Lake District. I have worked in both the KS1 and KS2 departments supporting children with special needs on a one to one basis.
In September 2009 I was lucky enough to be offered a job enabling me to work with individuals and groups of children across years 3 to 6. This has been a challenging but rewarding move and one that I am thoroughly enjoying. I have found the children a delight to work with and my colleagues to be friendly, supportive and good fun!! Earlier this year I gained my HLTA status resulting in opportunities to work right across the school.
When not at Ludworth I occupy my time playing tennis at Brabyns, reading and walking with my Labrador; a girl called Archie!
My job is very varied at Ludworth and I love it. I work supporting a child on a one to one basis during the morning and then in the afternoon I work as the School Learning Mentor, supporting children from all over the school remove barriers to their learning.
My name is Lynne Taylor and I am a HLTA which involves teaching classes all across the years. I am currently based in year 2 in the mornings running intervention groups which is a pleasure and a privilege to do.
I have worked at Ludworth for ten years and love every minute.
I am also a Mid Day Supervisor and work lunchtime with a fabulous team ( I am also very talented at singing 'Happy Birthday').
I love being part of the Ludworth Team and look forward to working here for many more years!
I've been a TA at Ludworth since 2014, working with key stage one children. I started coming into the school as one of Ludworth's dedicated army of parent volunteers, an experience I found so rewarding that I jumped at the opportunity to join the team at the school. It's a pleasure working with such a dedicated and motivated team in supporting Ludworth's wonderful children. No day at school is ever the same! In my spare time I enjoy running, martial arts, reading and, on the very odd occasion, resting.
I work with the Reception children at Ludworth Primary School and look after children during lunchtimes. I am very good at supporting children with additional medical needs.
Mrs Tori Barnes - Teaching Assistant
I work as a specialist SEN teaching assistant and enjoy working in Year 5 and 6.
Mrs Laura Wilkinson- Teaching Assistant
My name is Laura Wilkinson and I am a teaching assistant in Year 1. I am really excited to be joining Ludworth school and have been made to feel part of the team already! I love my job, the children make me smile every day!
Mrs Gillian Hammond - Teaching Assistant
My name is Gillian Hammond and I am a teaching assistant in Reception. I only started here in September but feel very privileged to work with such wonderful and inspiring staff and children. I have worked in Reception class for a number of years and continue to be dedicated and enthusiastic. I am looking forward to sharing the children's amazing and exciting journey in their Reception year at Ludworth.
My name is Jenny Findlow and I am a teaching assistant in Year 2. I am really excited to be joining Ludworth school and have been made to feel part of the team already!
I have been a teaching assistant for over 20 years and have experience of working in lots of different settings with children of all ages.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family, I am Mum to two boys and with our friends I enjoy reading. I have recently become a member of a female A-Capella snow choir and am looking forward to taking part in my first competition later this year.
I work in Year 3/4 in the morning and with Year 1/2 in the afternoon. I used to work with younger children in my previous job but I love the challenge of working with older children, especially when helping them learn to read and write.
I work in Year 3/4 supporting children with Maths and English. I am a qualified swimming teacher, so lots of children know me out of school too. I used to work in an outdoor education centre in Cornwall. I love being active outside.
I have worked in Schools Finance for the last 15 years across both Primary and Secondary Schools in Stockport and Tameside. I’m really lucky as I love my job, as I get to work with amazing staff and children. I also love Maths so can always make the books balance! I have a husband and 2 children, and we all like to go on holidays together to soak up some sunshine and spend some time together.
I first started work at Ludworth, in the office, as “temporary School Secretary” and nine years later I’m still here, now in a permanent role! I enjoy working as part of a team in a friendly and stimulating environment where the staff and children alike are lovely and talented. My work is busy and varied and ranges from recording attendance and collecting payments to answering the telephone and dealing with poorly children. Alongside working at Ludworth, I have watched my own three children grow and become independent allowing me more time to pursue my interests mainly, walking, reading and keeping fit.
I work in the office on a Friday, helping the smooth running of the administration involved in a school. My own children used to attend Ludworth and I now love being part of the team.
I am the caretaker at Ludworth Primary and ensure the whole site is kept safe for all children, staff and families.
