Meet our Support Staff
The portraits of staff were drawn by children in Year 5.
Ms Denise Sheldon - Teaching Assistant
I have been a Teaching Assistant at Ludworth for nine years both on a one to one basis and classroom based. Previously I was employed by Granada Television for twenty-seven years working in Accounts, World in Action, Sport and Regional Affairs. I love working with the older children in Year 5 and 6; their sense of humour, stories and commitment to being their very best is so inspiring. Away from Ludworth I have a partner who still works in TV and two children, both of whom are ex-Ludworth pupils. I enjoy sewing and crochet, watching documentaries, current affairs, films and enthralling dramas and I am a member of a semi-successful quiz team.
Mrs Ann Dean - Teaching Assistant
I started working at Ludworth Primary School in September 2016.
I have a wonderful job as a Teaching Assistant working with the youngest members of the school in Reception.
I live locally in Marple with my husband and two children.
Mrs Carol Gillingham - Teaching Assistant
I work with the children in Year 3 and 4 at and I look after children during lunchtimes. I also enjoy leading the very popular gardening club with Mr Templar.
Mrs Alex Knibb - Teaching Assistant
I have worked at Ludworth Primary School for nearly 20 years and worked in all age groups and I have had the pleasure of watching many children progress through the school. I currently work in the Reception classes.
I am a Higher Level Special Needs Teaching Assistant primarily working with the Key Stage 2 children at Ludworth. I joined Ludworth in 2002 having moved to Marple from the Lake District. I have worked in both KS1 and KS2, supporting children with special educational needs, on a one to one basis. In September 2009 I was lucky enough to be offered a job, working with the SENDCO, Nicola Hankey. This role has enabled me to work with individuals and groups of children across KS2. I thoroughly enjoy this position, the children are a delight to teach and my colleagues are friendly, supportive and good fun! In 2016 I gained my HLTA status which means that I am able to teach classes in both Key Stages; mostly covering teachers PPA time. When I'm not at Ludworth I occupy my time playing tennis at Brabyns Tennis Club, where I am the club secretary, walking, reading and gardening.
My job is very varied at Ludworth and I love it. I work supporting a child on a one to one basis during the morning and then in the afternoon I work as the School Learning Mentor, supporting children from all over the school remove barriers to their learning.
I am a HLTA which involves teaching classes all across the years. I am currently based in year 2 in the mornings running intervention groups which is a pleasure and a privilege to do.
I have worked at Ludworth for ten years and love every minute.
I am also a Mid Day Supervisor and work lunchtime with a fabulous team ( I am also very talented at singing 'Happy Birthday').
I love being part of the Ludworth Team and look forward to working here for many more years!
I've been a TA at Ludworth since 2014, working with key stage one children. I started coming into the school as one of Ludworth's dedicated army of parent volunteers, an experience I found so rewarding that I jumped at the opportunity to join the team at the school. It's a pleasure working with such a dedicated and motivated team in supporting Ludworth's wonderful children. No day at school is ever the same! In my spare time I enjoy running, martial arts, reading and, on the very odd occasion, resting.
I'm currently based in year one. Having previous dispensary medicine training has helped me to assist many of our pupil's in each year group. Enabling them to access the whole school experience. I am a busy parent of two so when I'm not ferrying them to and from their various activities I'll usually be walking our boisterous but ever so friendly dog, pottering in the garden or belting out a song at my Rock Choir get together!
Mrs Tori Barnes - Teaching Assistant
I work as a specialist SEN teaching assistant and enjoy working in Year 5 and 6.
Mrs Laura Wilkinson- Teaching Assistant
I am a teaching assistant in Year 2. I am really excited to be working at Ludworth school and have been made to feel part of the team already! I love my job, the children make me smile every day!
Mrs Gillian Hammond - Teaching Assistant
I am a teaching assistant in Year 1. I feel very privileged to work with such wonderful and inspiring staff and children. I have worked at Ludworth for 2 Years and continue to be dedicated and enthusiastic. As always I am looking forward to sharing the children's amazing and exciting Year 1 journey at Ludworth Primary School.
I work in Year 5/6 supporting children with Maths and English. I am a qualified swimming teacher, so lots of children know me out of school too. I used to work in an outdoor education centre in Cornwall and love being active outside. I'm also passionate about wildlife and environmental conservation.
I have worked in Schools Finance for the last 15 years across both Primary and Secondary Schools in Stockport and Tameside. I’m really lucky as I love my job, as I get to work with amazing staff and children. I also love Maths so can always make the books balance! I have a husband and 2 children, and we all like to go on holidays together to soak up some sunshine and spend some time together.
I first started work at Ludworth, in the office, as “temporary School Secretary” and nineteen years later I’m still here, now in a permanent role!! I enjoy working as part of a team in a friendly and stimulating environment where the staff and children alike are both lovely and talented. My work is busy and varied and ranges from recording attendance and maintaining and updating school databases to answering the telephone and dealing with poorly children. Alongside working at Ludworth, I have watched my own three children grow and become independent young adults allowing me more time to pursue my interests mainly, hill walking, swimming, yoga, and other gym related activities.
I work in the office helping the smooth running of the administration involved in a school. My own children used to attend Ludworth and I now love being part of the team.
I am the caretaker at Ludworth Primary and ensure the whole site is kept safe for all children, staff and families.
